Iain Glen Joins Cast of Upcoming Biopic “Quezon”

“Game of Thrones” actor Iain Glen is set to portray Governor-General Leonard Wood in the upcoming historical biopic “Quezon,” which chronicles the life of Manuel L. Quezon, the President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines.

TBA Studios announced Glen’s casting on March 17, sharing a video of his script reading session at Manila Hotel alongside the film’s cast and crew.

A Pivotal Role in Philippine History

Governor-General Leonard Wood, a United States Army Major, played a significant role in Quezon’s fight for Philippine independence from the U.S. Glen’s casting brings gravitas and depth to the character, said director and co-writer Jerrold Tarog:

“(Iain Glen) has gravitas. But at the same time, he can let loose, which is important for the role of Leonard Wood.”

TBA Studios president and COO Daphne O. Chiu also expressed excitement:

“This film is shaping up to be one of the biggest productions in Philippine cinema, with one of the largest casts ever assembled.”

A Star-Studded Cast

“Quezon” boasts an ensemble cast featuring:
🎬 Jericho Rosales as Manuel L. Quezon
🎬 Mon Confiado as Emilio Aguinaldo
🎬 Benjamin Alves as young Quezon
🎬 Romnick Sarmenta as Sergio Osmeña
🎬 JC Santos as Manuel Roxas
🎬 Cris Villanueva as Joven Hernando (the only fictional character)
🎬 Karylle as First Lady Aurora Quezon

A New Addition to the “Bayaniverse”

Following the success of “Heneral Luna” and “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral,” Quezon continues TBA Studios’ “Bayaniverse”—a cinematic series centered on Philippine history.

The film will explore Quezon’s political journey, including his presidential campaign against Emilio Aguinaldo.

Coming in 2025

Filming is currently underway, and “Quezon” is set to premiere in Philippine cinemas in 2025.
